iSpellBetter is a game for children and adults to learn and practice recognizing parts of the shapes of letters. You search for and reveals parts of a word with the laser, trading off power to increase its width. Each level adds new mechanics, with backwards or upside down words, items, power-ups, and disappearing trails. You can add your own spelling lists or use any of the preset ones that range in difficulty from kindergarten to college.
I produced this app. I found an appropriate developer within budget, gave design feedback and updates, and deployed it to the App Store. I also modified it for use in The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning with specific spelling lists. The app was designed by Theodore Swartz and developed by RagDog Studios. There is also a free web version with limited spelling lists.
